Aston Villa are in contact with AC Milan over a move for Rafael Leão in the last week of the summer window.
The Portugal international’s future remains uncertain, after publicly expressing his desire to leave the San Siro.
He’s still at Milan, and Aston Villa have now come forward to secure his services.

Fresh contact from Aston Villa
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who covered this, has come up with fresh updates on the English club’s ongoing pursuit.
The title reads: ‘Negotiations with Aston Villa continue, Galatasaray are not giving up.’
Within the report, he points out the forward’s future with the Rossoneri is uncertain and his exit is ‘getting closer’.
The Europa League winners and the Turkish champions are his two main suitors. Di Marzio says these ‘two teams have knocked on AC Milan’s door with concrete offers’ in the last few hours, with no mention of the details of these proposals.
Aston Villa face Galatasaray threat
The Istanbul club have been pursuing Rafael Leão for weeks while Unai Emery’s side joined the race on Monday.
Aston Villa are keen and the 27-year-old prefers a move to England. On Tuesday evening, the Premier League side made fresh contact with the Italian club.
Galatasaray haven’t said the last word and there’s a possibility for them launching a new attempt. In recent weeks, Okan Buruk’s side have shown willingness to offer €40m and AC Milan haven’t entertained it.
The Serie A side are demanding around €60m, with at least €50m in fixed fee. Di Marzio hasn’t clarified about Aston Villa’s offer or whether there’s an intention of even getting close to Milan’s demand.
Leão is likely to leave and giving preference to the Premier League can give Emery’s side an edge over Galatasaray.
