Birmingham City striker Marvin Ducksch wants to return to Germany this summer, with the Blues setting a €500,000 asking price.
Sky Germany report that Birmingham City are willing to allow the 32-year-old leave for ‘significantly less’ than €1m this summer.
According to the outlet, there is a distinct possibility that Ducksch can leave Birmingham this summer. Several clubs from the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga are interest in the attacker.
Sky report that the striker wants to move back to Germany. Birmingham are willing to facilitate that and would let him go for a fee of around €500,000. The Blues paid €2m to sign him from Werder Bremen last summer.
Bundesliga interest
That figure would make the striker ‘financially accessible’ for many clubs. The bigger issue is that he currently earns around €2m a year at St Andrew’s. His contract runs until 2028.
Several clubs from the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga are monitoring the 32-year-old. There is also potential interest from MLS clubs. Marvin Ducksch has rejected those proposals though – specifically from Orlando and Atlanta.
It seems he would prefer to return to his native Germany. Sport Witness already covered a report explaining his desire to move on.
He has a strong connection with German football after playing for Borussia Dortmund, St. Pauli, Holstein Kiel, Fortuna Dusseldorf, Hannover 96 and Werder Bremen.
German success story
His most successful period came with the latter, scoring 54 goals and registering 40 assists in 134 games for the club.
He also celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga with them and earned his first call up to the German national team.
Last season he managed 11 goals and two assists in 37 games for Birmingham after arriving in the summer transfer window. Indeed, he was level as top goalscorer with Jay Stansfield despite playing 11 fewer games.
But it seems Birmingham are ready to let him go and take a loss on the transfer as well. They’re now waiting for the German suitors to firm up their interest.
