Swansea City are closing in on Stephen Eustáquio, with the Championship side set to sign the Porto midfielder permanently.
The Canada international is expected to move for around €4m (£3.4m). Portugal’s A Bola say the agreement also includes bonuses and a percentage of any future sale.
That gives Swansea City a relatively cheap route to an experienced midfielder who has spent the past four years at Porto.

The Portuguese newspaper explains Eustáquio is now “on his way” to Swansea. This isn’t being presented as a loan or a move with complicated conditions attached. Swansea are buying him outright.
Porto will receive around €4m (£3.4m) initially, with further money potentially arriving through objectives. They have also protected themselves with a percentage of a future transfer.
For Swansea City, the relatively modest initial fee could make this an attractive piece of business.
Eustáquio is 29 and brings plenty of experience at a level above the Championship. He has also been a regular international for Canada, having featured in the last two World Cups. In this year’s edition, he captained his country and even scored against South Africa.
Vítor Matos gets another experienced option
The transfer will put Eustáquio under Portuguese coach Vítor Matos at Swansea. That connection should make the adaptation process fairly straightforward, particularly after several years playing in Portugal.
Eustáquio joined Porto from Paços de Ferreira in 2022 and went on to establish himself in their midfield. His situation changed last season. Despite being part of the squad which won the Portuguese title, he finished the campaign on loan at Los Angeles FC.
That was a fairly clear indication his Porto spell was moving towards its conclusion. Now Swansea are set to provide the permanent exit.
The fee is unlikely to cause much concern at Championship level, while the structure gives Porto the chance to earn more later.
For Swansea, the bigger point is the profile of the player they are getting. Eustáquio arrives with Champions League, World Cup and title-winning experience.
At €4m (£3.4m), that looks like a calculated move for a player who should be ready to contribute immediately.
