Newcastle United are preparing their final attempt to sign Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo this summer.
The Premier League side are active in the last week of the window, working on improving multiple positions.
This includes the attack, and Newcastle United have identified the Belgium international as a target.
On Monday, Sport Witness covered a report from France explaining the Magpies tabled an offer of €40m with bonuses. This wasn’t enough to convince the Ligue 1 side.
New attempt from Newcastle United soon

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report on the Premier League side’s impending effort.
Lille’s refusal hasn’t put off Matthias Jaissle’s side, who are working on a fresh proposal to sign the 21-year-old.
Tavolieri says it’s ‘now or never’ for Newcastle United as it will be their final offer for the attacker, who can also operate on left and right wing.
The Tyneside club are preparing to table an improved bid of €60m with bonuses today. He hasn’t specified the fixed part of the fee.
Lille have decision to make
Matias Fernandez-Pardo has a contract until 2029 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €35m.
On Monday, we relayed news of the Belgian reaching an agreement in principle with RB Leipzig for personal terms. The Bundesliga side are offering around €35m, turned down by Lille, who have already rejected a €40m bid from Atlético Madrid this summer.
The player’s profile and qualities tempted Arsenal, who are following him but haven’t taken further.
Lille president Olivier Létang has no plans to let him leave without an ‘irresistible offer of €70m’.
If that’s the case, Newcastle United’s final offer of €60m with bonuses won’t be enough to convince the French club. Either way, there will be more clarity when the Magpies table their new proposal.
Last season, Fernandez-Pardo contributed eight goals and seven assists from 41 matches.
