Arsenal have positioned themselves to sign Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo and pose a threat to RB Leipzig.
Last season, he operated as a No.9 and a left winger, managing eight goals and seven assists from 41 matches.
The forward’s performances didn’t go unnoticed and caught the attention of a few clubs, including Arsenal and Leipzig.
On July 29th, Sport Witness covered a report from France of the Premier League winners’ interest in the 21-year-old. He wants to leave and feels well prepared for a big move this summer.
Leipzig agree terms for Arsenal target

Sky Deutschland have a short update on the Bundesliga side’s interest in securing the Belgium international’s services.
RB Leipzig have identified the versatile attacker and AC Milan’s Christopher Nkunku as their two main attacking targets.
The German club have reached an agreement in principle with Matias Fernandez-Pardo for personal terms.
Sky adds Lille have received an offer of €32-33m, with easily achievable bonuses. There’s no mention of Arsenal or any other club, or about the former’s response.
Arsenal threat for Leipzig
Foot Mercato reports Matias Fernandez-Pardo is keen on a move and recently asked for a meeting to sort out his future.
Lille president Olivier Létang is refusing to let him leave unless he receives an ‘irresistible offer’ of around €70m.
This has seen them reject RB Leipzig’s €35m and Atlético Madrid’s €40m so far. The high price doesn’t seem to have put off Mikel Arteta’s side.
He came up through the French club’s academy and left them for KAA Gent in 2020. The attacker joined their youth system and made his first team debut in 2023. A year later, the forward returned to the Ligue 1 side and has 12 goals and 10 assists from 71 matches.
The north London club have the Belgian in their attacking target list and are ‘seduced by his explosive qualities’.
Arsenal are aware they need an ‘astronomical’ fee of €70m to convince Lille and to hijack the player from Leipzig’s clutches.
There’s no indication or suggestion of whether the Gunners are willing to table an offer in this region.
