Nottingham Forest’s move for Corinthians midfielder André is now moving quickly, with reports from Brazil confirming an official bid has already been rejected.
The English press revealed Forest’s interest on Tuesday, but the Brazilian side of the story now provides much more detail. ESPN Brazil says the first offer was worth €12m (£10.4m).
Corinthians turned that down and have already sent Forest their counteroffer. They want €15m (£13m) guaranteed and another €5m (£4.3m) through bonuses, taking the potential package to €20m (£17.3m).
There is also movement from André’s side. His representatives are travelling to England on Tuesday and are due to meet Nottingham Forest officials on Wednesday. They already know the terms Corinthians want and will now sit down with the Premier League club.
Forest have an official offer on the table
Meu Timão and journalist Luis Fabiani also confirm Nottingham Forest have made a formal approach.
Fabiani says the proposal is on Corinthians’ table and there is nothing agreed yet. He nevertheless believes there is a good chance of progress over the coming days.
The Brazilian club own 70% of André’s economic rights and have avoided publicly discussing the figures involved.
Reports in England had put Forest’s proposal at £13.6m, approximately €15.7m. ESPN Brasil’s information provides a different picture, with the initial guaranteed offer standing at €12m (£10.4m). Either way, the important part for Forest is that talks are now very real.
Corinthians have responded with their demands, André’s camp are heading to England and direct discussions with Forest are scheduled for Wednesday.
Crystal Palace have also watched André, sending a scout to see him in action last month. Forest, though, are the Premier League club who have now put actual money on the table.
Corinthians have already regretted one decision
There is an interesting bit of context behind Corinthians’ negotiating position. AC Milan tried to sign André in February and offered a package which could have reached €17m (£14.7m). Corinthians decided against the sale and kept him in Brazil.
ESPN Brasil now understands there has been some regret inside the club over rejecting that money.
That may matter with Forest now at the table. Corinthians have set a target of raising around R$151m (€24m, £20.8m) from player sales in their 2026 budget, but are yet to complete a deal towards that figure.
They are therefore asking Forest for a €20m (£17.3m) package, although only €15m (£13m) of that would be guaranteed.
One issue Forest will have to consider
André Luiz has been out since August 6th with a grade-two injury to his left hamstring. Corinthians expect him back at the beginning of September. But that obviously means Forest would be signing a player who isn’t currently available to play.
Either way, André has made 47 senior appearances for Corinthians, starting 31 of them. He has seven goals and two assists since making his first-team debut in September 2025.

Should Forest eventually get the deal done, he would find another Corinthians academy graduate waiting for him in Nottingham. Centre-back Murillo made the same journey in 2023, when Forest agreed a package worth €14m (£12.1m) for the defender.
For now, there is still a gap to bridge. Forest started at €12m (£10.4m), Corinthians have replied with €15m (£13m) plus €5m (£4.3m), and André’s representatives are now travelling to England to help move things along.
Wednesday’s meeting looks like the next important step.
