Tottenham Hotspur‘s Mikey Moore has decided to join 1. FC Köln on loan this summer and is awaiting Spurs’ green light.

Geissblog now states a new development at the Premier League side will further delay the winger’s arrival.

On August 3rd, Sport Witness covered a report from Germany explaining that his move to Germany is very close. However, he’s still at Tottenham, who haven’t given the green light for his temporary move.

Roberto De Zerbi utilised the 19-year-old in pre-season and even started him in the 3-0 league defeat to Brentford last weekend. The manager was critical of Mikey Moore’s performance.

He said: “We were not ready to fight in the duels. I think we made a lot of mistakes in the timing of the pressing with Mikey Moore in the left centre, we arrived too many times late.”

Two days ago, we relayed news that De Zerbi’s comments encouraged the Bundesliga side.

The Italian was clear that he wanted Spurs to first sign a replacement before letting him leave.

Tottenham exit delayed

On Tuesday, the Premier League side completed the signing of Savinho from Manchester City. His former Etihad teammate, Omar Marmoush, should follow the Brazilian to London soon.

Savinho’s arrival would have been enough for the north London to let Mikey Moore leave. However, there has been no clearance yet from Tottenham Hotspur. Geissblog states this is because of James Maddison’s injury.

Spurs will face Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup today and Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed Maddison’s setback.

The former Leicester City man replaced the England U19 international against Brentford. Taking this account, Geissblog expect Moore to take his place in the squad for today’s cup tie.

Either way, 1. FC Köln have no clearance from Spurs despite reaching an agreement to sign Moore on loan without a purchase option.

The German club continue to wait, while having optimism of eventually completing the young attacker’s loan transfer.
