Newcastle United summer signing Sean Steur has insisted he is confident that he has picked the right club for his development.
The 18-year-old is insistent that he has made the right decision in moving to St James Park this summer. The youngster made the move to Newcastle this summer in a €23.5m deal from Ajax.
He’s had something of a varied start to life in the North East, with a difficult display in the recent 4-1 loss to Leeds United followed by an outstanding display in 2-1 win over Hull on Saturday.
Steur very much still finding his way in the Premier League but believes he is in the right place.
“Yeah, I’m very happy with it, fortunately,” he told ESPN NL.
“I’m very happy there (Newcastle) and how everything went. Yeah, I can only look back with happiness. I’m very much in my place there.”
Learning experience
The move is very much a learning experience for a player who only managed 26 appearances in Ajax’s first team before his departure this summer. And he’s happy to admit as much.
“How football is experienced there is of course next level,” he added when asked what he’s learned so far.
“I learn a lot from that. And, of course, you train and play at a high level. It’s only for the better for you. So far everything is just very good and I’m very happy about that.”

Happy with choice
Reports in the Netherlands had indicated that he turned his back on Ajax after previously agreeing to a contract extension.
Or, at the very least, indicating that he would sign a new contract with the Dutch giants. He now admits that he had doubts about what his role would be at the club.
“Yeah, there was a lot of change there (Ajax) and I sometimes had doubts about what my role would be. Eventually I just chose for a new adventure,” he concluded.
“Eventually I just chose for my own feeling. I’m just very happy there now. So far, I just think I’ve made a very good choice.”
