West Ham United striker Niclas Füllkrug has insisted he’s not bothered after being ignored by the German national team.

He has named an extended squad of 44 players for his first games in charge of national as they take on the Netherlands, Greece, Serbia and Greece again in the Nations League over the next few weeks.
Füllkrug missing
But the one name missing from the group was Füllkrug. That was surprising to most given the 33-year-old’s start to the season.
He retuned to Werder Breen on loan from West Ham this summer following a miserable few years at the London Stadium. And it has been a case of home is where the heart is as he’s managed three goals in four games in the Bundesliga to date.
The striker has already expressed his own surprise at how well things are going. A return to the German set up seemed inevitable, but instead he’s been ignore this time around. He, though, won’t be commenting on that.
“I’m not expecting a call; I don’t need any calls,” he told Sky.
“I play for Werder here. That’s the most important thing for me. Everything else is out of my hands. I don’t want to comment on that either – I don’t think it’s particularly cool.”

Conviction he’ll be back
Werder coach Daniel Thioune, meanwhile, is convinced that a return will be on the cards at some point.
“I can understand the national team coach prioritizing players he doesn’t know yet,” he added.
“After all, he knows what to expect from the ones he is familiar with. But if Niclas Füllkrug keeps appearing on the scoreboard week in, week out, the national team coach will surely make the drive up the A1 motorway to the north at some point.”
That’s an opinion shared by Clemens Fritz, Bremen’s Head of Professional Football.
“There is no disputing his immense quality. If you score goals week after week, your chances certainly increase. I definitely think he’s capable of it,” he said.
