Newcastle United target Dodo in action for Fiorentina

Nottingham Forest have been showing interest in Fiorentina’s Dodo and the player could be growing impatient about a transfer.

Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that the deal for the Brazilian was edging closer. The player agreed personal terms with the East Midlands club, who were working hard on finding an agreement with Fiorentina.

Dodo’s current deal in Florence runs out in 2027. This was forcing La Viola into considering a sale, with Nottingham Forest getting the benefit of potentially landing the right-back for a discounted fee.

Now, doubts are growing over whether the deal will go through or not.

Player awaiting transfer

Today’s Corriere Fiorentino have a negative stance on the transfer.

Firstly, they note Dodo disappointed on Monday night during Fiorentina’s 4-0 loss to AS Roma. He was constantly being overrun by Wesley and Donyell Malen, as the Dutchman grabbed a hattrick.

Now, the player is waiting to see if Nottingham Forest will make a decisive move for him or not. So far, this hasn’t quite happened, despite reports suggesting a move is close.

Fiorentina too are lying in wait for Oliver Glasner’s side to close the deal.

If nothing moves, La Viola will be open to last minute offers from other clubs too. They haven’t made progress over a renewal and do not want to lose Dodo for free in 2027.

This is a clear sign that Fiorentina are fearful of Nottingham Forest backing out.

Our take: Player might have to stay

Nottingham Forest are already making progress in a move for Celta Vigo’s Javi Rueda, who will cost between €15m and €20m.

While that is more than what Fiorentina want for Dodo, Glasner’s side are getting a younger player in the Spaniard.

Besides, the 27-year-old Brazilian is quite erratic in his delivery in the final third.

Everything now points at the fact that Fiorentina will have to keep waiting for a sale and that Nottingham Forest have moved on.
