Newcastle United have recently rejected an approach from Nottingham Forest for striker Nick Woltemade.
SportBILD report that the Magpies have zero interest in selling the 24-year-old, who Matthias Jaissle is determined to get the best out of this season.
The newspaper details the efforts the new Newcastle manager is undertaking this season to ensure Woltemade can get back on track. That includes regular talks with the striker and speaking to his former manager.
All of this is an indication of Newcastle’s determination to get the best of their record signing. They are firmly counting on Woltemade this season.
Nottingham Forest offer rejected
They’re also rejecting bids for the striker. Nottingham Forest recently made an inquiry about Woltemade. Newcastle immediately rejected the approach.
They have no interest in parting ways with Woltemade this summer. The same applies to the striker personally. A transfer has not been on the agenda. He wants to establish himself at Newcastle and feel comfortable in the city and surrounding area.
He already lives in a shared house with a friend – Silas Steinwedel – who he played with in Werder Bremen’s youth ranks. His interest in a transfer is nil.
It also means there is no truth to the rumours regarding a move to clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig or Aston Villa. There has been no contact with any of these clubs so far.
Jaissle and Woltemade agree
As far as Woltemade and Matthias Jaissle are concerned, they will be working together this season and neither party have an interest in parting ways.
It is not unfair to say that the striker has work to do following a disappointing first season at St James Park. He arrived last summer in a €75m deal from Stuttgart as a late replacement for Alexander Isak.
He started last season in impressive form but ended the season with 11 goals and five assists in 51 games. That saw him playing in midfield as Eddie Howe tried to find a way to get him into his team.
That led to suggestions he could depart, which his agent has since denied. N Now SportBILD report that efforts from Nottingham Forest have been turned away as well.
