Celtic suffered a 5-1 loss to LASK on Tuesday. The defeat means Martin O’Neill’s side will miss out on qualifying for the Champions League group stage and this has left Real Oviedo disappointed.
On August 12th, they completed the signing of Haissem Hassan from the Spanish club.
The two clubs didn’t disclose the details of the agreement. Sources close to Real Oviedo reported Celtic offered a fee around €6-8m plus bonuses.
Real Oviedo unhappy with Celtic loss

As part of the agreement for the winger’s transfer, the Segunda División side were to receive bonuses if Celtic qualified for the Champions League group stage.
Martin O’Neill’s side secured a 3-0 win over LASK in the first leg at home. This only raised the Spanish club’s hopes of collecting the bonuses. In the return leg on Tuesday, Celtic’s Callum McGregor opened the scoring in the 21st minute.
However, the Austrian club scored four goals in 90 minutes and Samuel Adeniran’s 109th minute goal was the difference between the two clubs. This means the Scottish club miss out on a place in the Champions League group stage.
Had they qualified, Real Oviedo were to receive an additional fee from O’Neill’s side. That won’t happen now because of Celtic’s ‘debacle’ in Austria.
Details of Celtic agreement for Hassan

As part of the Haissem Hassan deal, €300k bonuses were linked to Celtic qualifying for the Champions League group stage.
Real Oviedo were to receive €180k while the rest was for his former club, Villarreal. The two Spanish clubs will now miss out on this after LASK made a comeback against Martin O’Neill’s side.
The 24-year-old Egypt international has made two substitute appearances so far.
