Liverpool have identified AS Saint-Étienne’s Djylian N’Guessan as an attacking target and want to wrap up his signing quickly.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who cover a short update on the Reds’ efforts to secure the winger’s services.

The Premier League side are working on improving their attack before tomorrow’s deadline.

Liverpool see the 18-year-old as one of the brightest prospects for the future and are now betting on him.

Foot Mercato reports the Merseyside club are in advanced negotiations with the Ligue 2 side to sign Djylian N’Guessan.

Beneficial deal for Liverpool

There’s no mention of a fee or whether the player is open to joining Andoni Iraola’s side. He’s in his final year of contract, and Transfermarkt value him at €4m.

The contract situation could force AS Saint-Étienne to part ways with the France U20 international in the next few hours. Liverpool can take advantage of this and their failure to secure a top flight promotion to sign him for a reasonable price.

Djylian N’Guessan is a product of the French club’s academy and made his way into the first team in 2025. Operating across the front three, he played 13 matches and scoring only once.

Last December, we relayed news of Chelsea and Arsenal’s interest in the youngster. The two London clubs didn’t make advances in January, and Liverpool are now working to finalise the deal.

The Anfield club are running out of time and whether they can get the deal over the line is unclear.

Apart from the Frenchman, the Reds haveshown keen interest in Crystal Palace star Ismaila Sarr and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yankuba Minteh.

Sarr wants to leave and his camp is confident of moving to Anfield. However, the Eagles are refusing to sell, while Liverpool have restarted talks with the Seagulls for Minteh.

Liverpool may still pursue the Premier League duo even if they sign N’Guessan.
