The Italian media has been talking about the future of Newcastle United’s Nick Woltemade over the past few days. Another Serie A side is now keen on the German.
Last week, it became clear that how Napoli are interested in the striker. They were seeking a possible loan, as they have been desperate for an attacking signing. It was also claimed that the player is looking to depart Tyneside late in the summer transfer window.
Soon after, Sport Witness were informed that the player has not asked for a transfer and Newcastle United haven’t spoken to him about an exit.
Now, it is Juventus who are considering a possible move.
Spalletti makes contact
Today’s TuttoSport offers details about the situation, noting that Juve see Woltemade as a possible signing, with Jonathan David departing. While Joshua Zirkzee is the first-choice, manager Luciano Spalletti wants more of a classic number nine in his ranks.
The Newcastle United forward is viewed as that option and his profile is now ‘surging forward’ on the Bianconeri’s shortlist.
This is mainly because of Spalletti. The manager has had ‘direct contact’ with Woltemade about a transfer. He has expressed great admiration for the Germany international and would like him in Turin.
Before making a formal move, Juve are awaiting the sale of David. Atletico Madrid are making in-roads for the Canadian. The Bianconeri will try to attempt a swap involving Alexander Sorloth and this could be key for Woltemade’s situation.
Our take: Deal would be unlikely
As mentioned earlier, Sport Witness have been informed that Woltemade isn’t actively seeking a transfer. There has been no serious movement regarding his exit either.
Besides, the 24-year-old did play a part for Newcastle United in their win over Tottenham at the weekend. That was quite a positive sign for Matthias Jaissle, who could potentially hand the German more game time in the next few weeks.
