Jay Enem has been close to joining Bologna but the Dutchman could yet end up in England, with Norwich City competing with Watford for his signing.
The striker joined Red Star Belgrade permanently earlier this summer after a six-month loan. In all competitions, he has scored seven times, racking up three assists in 22 games for the Serbian club.
This has caught the attention of Bologna, who are set to sign him on a permanent basis.
But this doesn’t rule out a loan exit, with Norwich City and Watford looking to bring him to England.
Bologna want England transfer
Today’s Il Resto Del Carlino reports the Italian side are keen on loaning out Enem. They don’t have immediate plans to use the striker in their first-team, despite having paid a package worth €6m for his signing.
While Red Star want the Dutchman back on another loan, they are facing major competition from England.
Watford have made initial contact for his signing but Norwich City are keen to outbid the Hornets in the last few days of the window. The Canaries are also guaranteeing Enem regular first-team football, which could appeal to the forward.
Bologna would be likelier to send him to Carrow Road. The two clubs worked together for a deal involving Sydney Van Hooijdonk in 2024 and it went down well with the Italian club.
Bologna are keen to send him to England and want to sort out his future as quickly as possible.
Player needs regular football
The 23-year-old hasn’t just done well at Red Star, he also impressed at Beograd before that. He scored ten league goals for them before he made the big move and the striker might need to play regularly to keep momentum going.
That should be the player’s priority and if Norwich City offer that, it would be a very good move.
It will also help Bologna as they will see their player develop at a good level. They can then assess his development and understand if he fits into their plans or not. If he doesn’t, there could be a chance of a capital gain, especially if Enem does well in the Championship.
