Wilfried Gnonto’s future at Leeds United has been uncertain for the past few weeks and he is now closing in on a transfer.
The Italian hasn’t played once for Daniel Farke’s side this season. He wasn’t in the squad for the Carabao Cup clash against Nottingham Forest, having been left on the bench against Brentford at the weekend.

Gianluca Di Marzio now reports that Gnonto’s move to Florence is ‘increasingly close’. Leeds United could let the attacker leave on an initial loan with an option to buy.
The journalist is confident the ex-Inter Milan youngster can fly to Italy as early as this evening.
Orazio Accomando offers confirmation, revealing that the deal is indeed closing. He also expects Gnonto to arrive in Florence today and he can undergo his medical along with Everton’s Beto, who is set to join Fiorentina.
The move for Gnonto will prove important for Fabio Grosso’s side from a sales’ perspective. This will allow them to sell Albert Gudmundsson, who wants an exit and has attracted interest from several clubs.
Our take: Chance at redemption
Before Gnonto fell out of the plans at Leeds United, he was seen as having potential. During their previous stint in the Premier League, he sparkled with his pace and 1v1 ability. This was also true right after that, when the Whites were relegated to the Championship.
Now, Fiorentina could be a great chance for the 22-year-old to get his career back on track.
While he may not be a starter, he would be a reliable squad player. There is every chance he will get a chance to make a mark, with Everton’s Beto expected to be a regular upfront.
