Celtic have made rapid advances to add Parma’s Oliver Sørensen to Martin O’Neill’s squad before Tuesday’s deadline.

That’s according to Tipsbladet in Denmark, and journalist Farzam Abolhosseini covers this report. Their title says: ‘Bombshell – Sørensen moves to Celtic’.

The midfielder came up through the ranks of FC Midtjylland’s youth system and made his way into their first team in 2020.

Oliver Sørensen spent five years with the first team, including two loan spells at Fredericia and HamKam.

A year ago, the Superliga side sold him to the Serie A side, and he played 1,907 minutes from 36 matches, managing a goal and an assist.

The midfielder will change clubs again as Martin O’Neill will soon welcome him at Celtic if there are no setbacks.

The Scottish Premiership winners are signing the Dane on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy. There’s no mention of the purchase clause price.

Parma invested around €10m to sign him from FC Midtjylland and offered him a contract until 2030. His valuer, as per Transfermarkt, is now €6.5m, a drop of €1.5m since moving to Italy.

Oliver Sørensen’s loan move is at an advanced stage and he’s currently undergoing medical with Martin O’Neil”s side. Barring any last-minute surprises, he will play at Celtic this season.

It’s most likely that Celtic and Parma have already reached an agreement. The two clubs would have sorted out the last details of the operation, and therefore, Parma have given him permission to carry out medical tests.

The midfielder came off the bench in Coppa Italia win over Catania earlier this month and was an unused substitute in the first two Serie A matches.

Sheffield United had reportedly showed interest prior to his move to Italy. A year later, he will move to the UK, this time to join Celtic.
