Chelsea have made further advances in their efforts to sign AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara ahead of deadline day.

The Premier League side have already met with the midfielder’s agent, after Xabi Alonso gave the green light.

On Sunday, Sport Witness covered a report from France explaining that Chelsea are working on finalising the operation. Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro has confirmed they won’t block a move if there’s an offer they can’t refuse.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report his own updates on this case.

He states the Blues have reached an agreement in principle with the Ligue 1 side to sign the Senegal international.

The signing will cost them €45m including bonuses, without specifying the fixed part of the fee. Chelsea are finalising the payment method and the last details of the deal.

Lamine Camara has to wait for this before receiving the approval to carry out medical tests with the English club. Tavolieri doesn’t specify the details of the player’s personal terms.

Manager wants Chelsea target’s stay

On Sunday, the 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes in his side’s 2-0 league win over Marseille.

After the match, AS Monaco manager Filipe Luís expressed his desire to hold on to Lamine Camara. Wiw Sport have relayed his comments and points out Chelsea’s reported deal with the Ligue 1 side.

“Of course. When you look at this player’s level, it’s incredible. Anything can happen until the transfer window closes, but I, the club, and the players hope to keep him because he’s among the elite. I hope Lamine stays,” he said.

When asked how he’s handling the Camara situation, Luís explained: “As for Lamine, I don’t really need to talk to him. If you know the kind of player I have, there’s no need for a discussion.”

“It’s just a matter of explaining the game plan and the concept to him, and he’ll execute it. You can see in his face his desire to learn, his hunger for victory, the way he trains, his competitive spirit. So, when I see that, I know he’s going to perform well.”
