Wolves have had their fair share of calamitous transfers in recent years, and Sasa Kalajdzic fits into that category. When fit, the Austrian striker scores goals, however he picked up an ACL tear on his Premier League debut.
That would be the first of three ACL tears since signing for Wolves. With a year left on his contract (the club has a further year option), now is the last summer for Wolves to try and get a fee.
Given the 29-year-old’s injury history, it’s going to be difficult.
Multiple clubs interested in Wolves player
Sasa Kalajdzic was on loan at LASK last season and fit for most of the campaign. Naturally, it took him a while to really get going again. All of his six league goals came from February onwards.
As shared by Sky Austria, Nice, Venezia, Sassuolo, Werder Bremen and Schalke have all been keen on the Wolves player. The latter two have gone for other options, therefore, it’s unlikely they’ll do anything with their interest.
That could come as a blow to the player, given the Bundesliga is his preferred destination. Kalajdzic had a great goalscoring spell with VfB Stuttgart. That convinced Wolves to sign him, and he wants a return.
Options being kept open but time running out
A week ago, Sasa Kalajdzic was asked about the possibility of returning to LASK.
“LASK have a special place in my heart; it means a great deal to me,” he said.
“Basically, you never know in life, that’s why I never close any doors. I’m still in touch with Dino [Buric, LASK sporting director] and everyone else, but fundamentally, the plan is not to stay in Linz.
“I don’t want to raise false hopes, but I also don’t want to say I’m not coming and then end up coming after all, you never know in life,”
There no mention of the fee Wolves require. Transfermarkt put the player’s value at €4m.
