Wolverhampton Wanderers‘ Saša Kalajdžić isn’t closing the door on leaving Molineux this summer.
The striker has endured a difficult spell since joining Wolves from VfB Stuttgart in August 2021.
He played 350 minutes from 16 matches for the English club, managing three goals and an assist. The restricted minutes are mainly because of multiple setbacks.
On his Wolves debut, the 29-year-old sustained a serious knee injury, forcing him to miss the rest of the season.
The Austria international suffered another serious blow in February 2024, while on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt. He was away from the pitch for 437 days, missing the entire 2024/25 season.
Wolves man returns to former club
Last summer, the Championship side sent him on loan to LASK, and this helped him regain form and fitness.
Saša Kalajdžić missed only seven days and finished the season with seven goals and 11 assists from 27 matches. He even won the title with the Austrian club.
Last Friday, LASK secured a 4-1 win over SV Ried at home, and the Wolves player was in the stadium to say goodbye to his former club.
This gave Sky Austria an opportunity to have a chat with him, and Laola1 have relayed his comments.
Wolves man doesn’t want to raise hopes
Sky specifically asked Saša Kalajdžić whether he’s open to returning to LASK this summer.
In May, the striker said he will return to Wolves when asked about his future plans. Fast forward to August and the Austrian isn’t closing the door on a fresh move to LASK.
“LASK have a special place in my heart; it means a great deal to me,” he said.
“Basically, you never know in life, that’s why I never close any doors. I’m still in touch with Dino [Buric, LASK sporting director] and everyone else, but fundamentally, the plan is not to stay in Linz.”
The Wolves frontman also sent a message to LASK, not to get their hopes up.
“I don’t want to raise false hopes, but I also don’t want to say I’m not coming and then end up coming after all, you never know in life,” Kalajdžić explained.
The player is in his final year of contract. Therefore, César Peixoto’s side have to sell him this summer, to avoid losing him for free in 2027.
