Finland manager Jacob Friis dropped Queens Park Rangers‘s Glen Kamara from the squad for November’s international break because his commitment to the national team isn’t 100%.
The midfielder joined the Championship side on loan from Stade Rennais in the summer window. He moved to the Ligue 1 side in July 2024 when QPR manager Julien Stéphan was in charge of the club.
Stéphan was key in his arrival in London, and Kamara made 925 minutes in 13 matches for the English club so far.
What’s the drama involving QPR man
The move to Loftus Road has helped the Finland international enjoy regular minutes. This also resulted in a return to the national team during the last international break.
Glen Kamara featured in the goalless draw against Belarus in September, which was his first appearance in over a year.
Finland faced Belarus twice, and the second tie was on October 6th. He missed this clash because QPR recalled him early, and the player agreed. Kamara’s premature departure from the national team camp resulted in anger back in his country.
Finland FA’s general secretary Marco Casagrande has blamed the English club for putting pressure on the former Leeds United man. They were also considering taking QPR to FIFA.

QPR player faces consequences
Later this month, Finland face Albania and San Marino in the UEFA Nations League. On Wednesday, Jacob Friis announced his squad for these two fixtures and left Glen Kamara out of the list.
Friis used the QPR man’s delicate situation as an example to warn his players, and Iltalehti have relayed his comments.
“Decisions like that have consequences. I want my players to be 100% committed to the national team. That’s a fact. That’s why Kamara isn’t in this squad,” he said.
“I want to be completely honest with all our players. Everyone is free to agree or disagree with me, but I place great emphasis on the values we have within our squad.”
When asked whether the national team door is closed for Kamara, Friis explained: “I’ve learnt that you should never say never.”
“Of course, his decision influences my own decisions. This isn’t about me treating him badly in any way. He knows my reasoning. I can’t say what the situation will be in a year or two’s time.”
