Liverpool have a strong interest in Brighton & Hove Albion‘s Yankuba Minteh and have made multiple attempts to sign him.
The British press recently reported Brighton rejecting a £50m [€58.4m] bid from the Reds.
On Friday, Sport Witness relayed news of sources close to the Brighton man dismissing Liverpool’s opening bid as ‘old news’.
Fresh attempt from Liverpool
Journalist Foday Manneh, who interviewed Yankuba Minteh’s agent Bakary Bojang last December, covered this report.
He has come up with a fresh report for Footy-Africa on Liverpool’s latest attempt to sign the Mali international.
Andoni Iraola’s side have returned with a second bid and Brighton & Hove Albion have turned it down.
There’s no mention of the fee proposed by the Reds or about the Seagulls’ demand. The 22-year-old’s agent is fully aware of Liverpool’s ongoing pursuit to secure his services.
Liverpool not giving up
Yankuba Minteh picked up an injury in pre-season and is likely to be out for two to three months. That hasn’t stopped the Anfield club from tabling two bids, which shows their desire to sign him.
Footy-Africa state the expectation is for the Premier League side to return with a third proposal. There’s over a week left in this window and Liverpool have to make an improved offer soon.
Despite The Amex club rejecting the latest bid, the Merseyside club aren’t giving up. In fact, the two clubs continue carry out negotiations and are optimistic about finding an agreement in the next few days.
The outlet states: ‘The relationship between the two clubs could also prove important in the negotiations, with both sides understood to be maintaining a positive dialogue as they work towards a potential agreement.’
There’s a good possibility of Fabian Hürzeler’s side accepting Liverpool’s improved offer, when they table it.
Minteh joined Brighton & Hove Albion from Newcastle United in 2024 and has 10 goals and seven assists from 73 matches.
