Liverpool have Brighton & Hove Albion‘s Yankuba Minteh on their attacking target list this summer.
On Thursday, it was reported Brighton rejected a £50m [€58.4m] bid from the Reds for the winger.
Sources respond to Liverpool offer claims
Footy-Africa relays that and then provides their own updates on the reported Liverpool offer for the Gambia international.
The outlet contacted sources close to the Brighton & Hove Albion player for an update on the latest claims from the UK.
They have rejected the latest links and dismissed it as “old news”. This is likely from his entourage, who are ‘casting doubt on suggestions that Liverpool are actively pursuing the 22-year-old.’
Yankuba Minteh picked up a foot injury during the pre-season and could be out of action for two to three months. There’s a possibility the setback can impact on his chances of leaving The Amex this summer.
Footy-Africa end their report by stating: ‘Despite the injury and the latest denial from his close associates, a departure from Brighton has not been completely ruled out. With the final weeks of the transfer window approaching, Minteh’s future remains one of the situations to watch closely.’
Liverpool update likely from agent
Brighton signed Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle United for around £30m [€35m] in July 2024. He managed 10 goals and nine assists from 73 matches for the Seagulls.
His performances for Fabian Hürzeler’s side have resulted in reports linking him to other clubs, including Liverpool.
Last November, former Gambia manager Tom Saintfiet backed him to secure a transfer to Anfield. A month later, Minteh’s agent Bakary Bojang said he’s confident of his client making a big move.
At that time, he said: “Yes, I am very optimistic about that. I know bigger clubs are interested and monitoring his development. I just need Yankuba to keep focus and deliver; everything will follow.”
Bojang then gave an interview to Footy-Africa, carried out by journalist Foday Manneh.
He now covers the latest report about Liverpool’s £50m bid. It’s likely that Manneh has obtained this information from Bojang or someone close to the representative.
