Everton have been in the picture to sign Genoa’s Brooke Norton-Cuffy and there is still hope of a deal.

The right-back has now spent two years in Italy, having arrived from Arsenal in 2024. He has featured 44 times in all competitions for them, establishing himself as one of the most promising right-backs in Serie A.

This has also brought about links with a move to England. Sport Witness have covered Everton’s interest, with manager Daniele De Rossi previously excluding him from the squad for a pre-season friendly.

Talk around the Toffees soon intensified, with Genoa appearing open to his sale. The Italian has now dropped a hint about the player’s future once again.

Transfer situation ongoing

Genoa open their Serie A campaign at the weekend against Napoli. De Rossi recalled Norton-Cuffy into the squad some weeks ago, despite the speculation surrounding the right-back’s future.

On Thursday evening, he spoke about the player again. He revealed that his exit is still possible and things can accelerate after the Napoli game.

Giving Everton transfer hope, he said – via Genova24: “As long as he’s here, he’ll play. He’s training well. I think he’s better than last year. I know the transfer market issues well. At most, I’ll talk about it after the match.”

Secolo XIX have also looked at the defender’s future. They believe he is likely to end up in the Premier League, and Genoa have already replaced him. Como’s Ignace Van Der Brempt is set to join them and this will be key in letting the ex-Arsenal talent depart.

Our take: Toffees can get cheap deal

Genoa paid only €2m to sign Norton Cuffy in 2024. He has grown significantly but the fee spent suggests they could be open to letting him leave for favourable terms, as they will make a big capital gain.

That should be encouraging for Everton, who still need a right-back.

The 22-year-old has significant experience of playing in England. He spent several loans away from Arsenal and this helped his development. There should be limited concerns about him settling in.
