Wolverhampton Wanderers‘ Jackson Tchatchoua is likely to continue with the Championship side unless there’s a late twist.
That’s according to Africa Foot, who covers how the 24-year-old’s situation has evolved in recent months.
Last summer, Wolves reportedly paid around €12.5m to sign the right-back from Hellas Verona. He finished his debut season in England with 38 appearances.
Wolves man attracting Italy interest
The English club have already seen a few players leave this summer mainly because of their relegation from the Premier League.
On May 26th, Sport Witness relayed news of Jackson Tchatchoua wanting to leave in this window.
He has attracted interest from several Serie A sides, with Torino leading the race for the Cameroon international’s signature. At that time, Wolves had no plans to stop his summer exit.
Africa Foot now again points out of unnamed clubs, especially those from Italy, showing keen interest in Jackson Tchatchoua.
This, coupled with Kieran Trippier’s arrival at Molineux, indicated the former Hellas Verona man will change clubs this summer.
Wolves change stance
However, ‘things have changed’ for Jackson Tchatchoua and he will continue at Wolves for at least another season.
That’s because the Championship side have no intention of letting him leave. Their desire to retain him have seen them reject several approaches from his suitors.
Africa Foot doesn’t explain details of the interested parties. It won’t matter because the fullback will be under César Peixoto’s orders this season. He seems to have accepted Wolves’ decision and is ready to fight for a place.
Rob Edwards was the manager when Wolves were reportedly open to letting him leave in May. Peixoto replaced him in June, and the managerial changes would have had an impact on the player’s immediate future.
Tchatchoua has made two appearances this season, and both were off the bench.
