Galatasaray have put Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr at the top of their midfield wish-list this summer. But the Turkish side need a sale to push the transfer through.

Journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports on the potential transfer today after reports that Galatasaray have made their first bid for the Tottenham man.

Sport Witness covered a report earlier today stating that Tottenham had rejected Galatasaray’s first €18m bid for the midfielder. Spurs are, reportedly, holding out for €25m for the 23-year-old.

That followed a report earlier today which stated that Sarr already has an agreement in place with the Turkish side regarding personal terms. They are willing to pay him €9m per year and that part of negotiations will not be an issue.

Sale needed first

Talks are now underway with Tottenham to find an agreement. Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports that Galatasaray first need to move someone on from their current squad.

“Pape Matar Sar. If there’s a departure there, they’re in talks with Tottenham’s player regarding a potential separation at the moment,” he said.

“The player is also very keen to join Galatasaray, by the way. But as I said, a departure is needed; we need Pape Sar. That’s why let’s say he’s at the top of the list: Pape Matar Sar.

“Just like Ermedin Demirović is currently at the top of the striker list, Pape is at the very top of the midfield list.”

Tottenham exit on the way

Pape Matar Sarr finds himself on the fringes at Tottenham at this moment in time following their big summer spend.

The arrivals of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes has created an overcrowding in Spurs’ midfield options. At least one player is likely to be moved on, and it appears he is now at the front of the queue.
