Liverpool have shown interest in signing Endrick from Real Madrid, but they face a pretty big obstacle: the player doesn’t want to leave.

European reports first brought Liverpool’s interest in the Brazilian on Thursday. Now ESPN Brazil have since confirmed it with their own sources.

They say the Reds have made their interest known, although no official offer has arrived yet. And if Liverpool decide to take things further, they may struggle to get very far.

ESPN have been told Endrick isn’t considering leaving Real Madrid this summer.

Liverpool join Aston Villa and Roma

Liverpool are the latest club to come into the picture for the 20-year-old. Aston Villa and Roma have both made loan approaches in recent weeks. Those were quickly knocked back by Endrick.

There’s an important extra detail here, though. ESPN say José Mourinho rejected those approaches as well.

Earlier this summer, another loan looked like a real possibility. Aston Villa were even presented as a club capable of giving Endrick what he wanted.

Information coming from Brazil has pushed back against that idea since then. Liverpool now appear to be running into the same problem.

Endrick wants another chance at Madrid and isn’t even entertaining approaches to leave.

Endrick winning Mourinho over

His determination to stay appears to be helping his cause. ESPN Brazil have learned Endrick has been impressing Mourinho in training. The manager has also been pleased with the Brazilian’s attitude and desire to fight for his place.

Mourinho believes he can use Endrick in several attacking positions. His versatility is seen as an important advantage given the competition for minutes.

Madrid currently have Vinícius Júnior, Kylian Mbappé, Carlos Espí and Diomande available in attack. Rodrygo is another option once he returns from injury.

Endrick has also been handed the number nine shirt for the new season, another decent sign of where he stands.

His successful loan at Lyon last season helped change the picture. Regular football in France got him back into form and earned him a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad.

It also convinced Real Madrid to give him another opportunity. Liverpool have clearly noticed what he did in France and have now made their interest known.

For the time being, though, Endrick isn’t giving them much encouragement. Mourinho doesn’t seem particularly interested in helping them out either.
