Aston Villa have been interested in signing Juventus’ Jonathan David and they could now have a favourable deal.

The Canada international impressed at the World Cup but it came right after a disappointing campaign in Turin. He fell out of favour under Luciano Spalletti, who now has his preferred striker option in Randal Kolo Muani in the squad.

Sport Witness covered that Aston Villa made initial contact for David. There were suggestions they could also make an offer for his signing.

Juve were open to a deal, as they are desperate to move on from the striker, who is definitely out of the Bianconeri project.

The Old Lady can now make things easier for his departure.

Loan deal could be possible

Calciomercato report that David’s Juve exit is easier than that of Teun Koopmeiners. He joined the Bianconeri for free and anything they earn from his exit goes down as a capital gain.

While there are no negotiations underway for David, Aston Villa have been interested. Paris FC have also been a suitor but they haven’t made a formal move either.

Juve previously placed a €30m price tag on David, however, they are willing to reduce this.

Aston Villa could now be handed a chance to sign him for a fee between €20m and €25m. The Italian giants could also consider a loan, as it will also hand them financial room for another attacking addition.

A loan would allow Juve to possibly sell David on in 2027.

Our take: Villa could soon need attacking signing

Striker Ollie Watkins has attracted interest from the Middle East and Turkish clubs in recent weeks.

If Watkins does depart, Aston Villa would need a replacement. David could be that man, especially as he won’t cost much. Juve will make it easy for Unai Emery’s side late in the window.

This will allow them to move for Joshua Zirkzee.
