Tottenham Hotspur‘s Pape Matar Sarr has his heart set on joining Galatasaray and the move is at an advanced stage.

Africa Foot report the details of negotiations to take the 23-year-old to Istanbul.

In April, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey of Gala and Fenerbahçe interest in the midfielder.

The expectation was for the local rivals to battle it out this summer, but it now looks like Galatasaray have an easy route to secure his services.

Africa Foot state Pape Matar Sarr has reached an agreement with Okan Buruk’s side.

The agreement is for a three-year contract with a ‘lucrative salary’ of around €9m per year, likely net. It’s unclear whether that’s including or excluding bonuses.

Agreement with Tottenham missing

Pape Matar Sarr has a contract with Tottenham Hotspur lasting until 2030, and Transfermarkt value him at €30m.

Last season, he played 2,212 minutes from 37 matches and 1,389 were in the Premier League. Since Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival in March, Sarr played only 67 minutes from four matches.

His situation at Tottenham saw him attract interest from several clubs. Galatasaray have convinced the former FC Metz man and it’s now down to the clubs to find an agreement.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side are looking to part ways with the 23-year-old this summer and this should please Galatasaray.

Africa Foot states the Süper Lig winners are already in discussions with the north London club and negotiations are progressing well. The parties are optimistic about finding a total agreement.

Spurs have added Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali to their midfield this summer. If Sarr were to continue, he would be further down the pecking order and has to settle for a restricted role, especially since Tottenham will compete only in domestic competitions.
