Nottingham Forest are among the clubs pursuing Barcelona’s Marc Casadó late in the summer window.

Four days ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain of Nottingham Forest’s bid earlier in the window. However, that didn’t convince Barcelona, and the Reds are still keen on signing him.

Benfica are also in the mix while AC Milan aren’t considering signing the midfielder.

Nottingham Forest can offer escape route

Marc Casado

On Friday, the Spaniard had a two-hour meeting with Jorge Mendes at Barcelona’s Meliá Torre Melina hotel.

Saturday’s print edition of Sport covers that, and adds Marc Casadó is well aware his situation at the Camp Nou has changed.

He has multiple offers from the Middle East and Europe and will analyse them with his agent before deciding the best option.

Barcelona are waiting for his final decision as his sale can help them raise funds and can then invest it in new signings.

Nottingham Forest face competition

Another Catalan newspaper, Mundo Deportivo, covers the Premier League side’s interest in the 22-year-old.

Hansi Flick has left Marc Casadó out of his core plans this season. He has several offers and the Blaugrana are urgently looking to offload him.

The newspaper states: ‘It’s clearer than ever that Casadó will not play for Barca this season.’

Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli have submitted offers around €40m and this pleases the Camp Nou side. However, he isn’t keen on moving to Saudi Arabia and wants to continue in Europe.

Oliver Glasner’s side, Benfica, AC Milan and an unnamed Turkish club are keen. It’s worth noting an earlier report pointed out the Serie A side ruling out signing him. This leaves Nottingham Forest to battle with two other clubs for his signature.

Barcelona are well aware none of these suitors will come close to the €40m offered by the Middle East clubs.

His contract is until 2028, and the Spanish champions want to collect at least €30m from his sale.

Barcelona want to offload Casadó and he wants to leave. Nottingham Forest are an option and whether he will join them is unclear for now.
