Tottenham Hotspur haven’t been able to make advances to sign Liverpool‘s Cody Gakpo, after finding an agreement with the player.
Spurs are closing in on signing Manchester City’s Savinho. On August 14th, we relayed news that Roberto De Zerbi still wants to sign the Liverpool player this summer.
Later that day, Sport Witness covered claims from the Dutch press of Gakpo agreeing on personal terms with Tottenham. They have offered over €69m to Liverpool.
Tottenham struggle to fulfil manger’s wish

Roberto De Zerbi reportedly wants the Premier League side to complete this operation as soon as possible.
The Netherlands international is keen on a move but won’t force his way out of Liverpool.
Voetbal International journalist Joost Blaauwhof took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share an important update.
There’s ‘radio silence’ between the two Premier League sides for Cody Gakpo’s transfer. As things stand, the chances of Spurs securing a deal ‘seem nil’.
Liverpool signing key for Tottenham
On Friday, Andoni Iraola talked about utilising Cody Gakpo in his preferred role on the left wing and also using him as a striker. He mentioned this despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his future.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are working to strengthen their attack with Paris Saint-Germain duo Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye.
Joost Blaauwhof reports the France international’s arrival at Anfield is key for Tottenham Hotspur to sign the Reds attacker.
If Barcola doesn’t join the Merseyside club, the Dutchman is unlikely to move to Spurs. If he ends up moving, then it will be up to Gakpo to decide.
The possibility of the Liverpool player moving to the north London club rests mainly on Iraola’s side signing a new attacker. If that happens, there can be developments and it’ll be then down to the two Premier League sides to find an agreement.
