Nottingham Forest defender Luca Netz has insisted he wants to kick on at the club this season, following talks with Oliver Glasner this summer.

Transfermarkt have an interview with the 23-year-old ahead of the Premier League’s return this weekend. And he’s determined to really get going under Glasner’s leadership.

The left-back joined Forest in a €2.5m deal on deadline day in the January transfer window from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

He barely featured between then and the end of the season, though, making just seven appearances totalling 355 minutes as Forest battled relegation.

He, though, insists that he earned a lot from the experience. And as a result, he is ready to kick on in his first full season.

“The Premier League has been something special for me from the very beginning,” he said.

“By now, I know the league, the intensity, and the high tempo much better, and I know what to expect. The first few months here gave me a lot, and I was able to gain valuable experience.

“Last season, the priority for me was simply settling into the Premier League. Now I want to take the next step, cement my place here, and help the team as much as possible.”

Oliver Glasner talks

The defender is hoping for a fresh start under Oliver Glasner, who arrived as Nottingham Forest’s new manager this summer.

The Austrian employs a system that makes use of wingbacks and has already praised Luca Netz for his performances in pre-season and his adaptation to his system.

“We had an intense pre-season with our new coach; we trained well and had plenty of discussions,” added the defender.

“For me personally, it makes a huge difference to have completed a full pre-season with the team for the first time. Of course, it was nice to wrap up the pre-season with a goal. But what’s far more important is that I feel fit and ready, and I’m heading into the new season highly motivated.

“Naturally, a new coach brings fresh momentum, a new approach, and new ideas. I really like it so far; we get along very well, and of course, it’s also great that we can converse in German.”
