Club Brugge star Christos Tzolis should consider a move to Brighton & Hove Albion before making a bigger jump.
Former Burnley midfielder Steven Defour believes Brighton would be the best option for him this summer.
The winger scored 20 goals and contributed 27 assists from 50 matches for the Belgian club this season.
He has been one of the standout performers for Club Brugge this season and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Last summer, Crystal Palace tabled a €32m bid but the Belgian club rejected it. Earlier this year, the 24-year-old confirmed the Eagles’ offer and was open to joining them.
Recent claims have brought in other Premier League sides into the mix. On April 23rd, we relayed news of Newcastle United as an option for the attacker.
Last weekend, Sport Witness covered claims from Belgium that Aston Villa and Manchester United have made contact for Tzolis.
The same source reported Club Brugge want him to be their new record sale, surpassing the €36m fee collected from Ardon Jashari’s sale to AC Milan in August 2025. He is getting ready to change clubs in the upcoming window.
Star told to pick Brighton
At the weekend, the Jupiler Pro League side sealed a 5-0 win over Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, who are second in the table. The win helped Club Brugge maintain a four-gap in the title race.
Christos Tzolis starred in the latest clash, scoring a goal and contributing three assists.
Steven Defour, writing in his column for Het Belang van Limburg, praises both the Greece international and Club Brugge star Hans Vanaken.
When discussing the next step for Tzolis, the former midfielder is of the belief Brighton & Hove Albion suits him best.
“Vanaken steps up in the big moments. He proved that once again on Sunday with that fantastic opening goal. Tzolis was also outstanding again. In recent months, he has really proven that he has outgrown the Belgian league,” he said.
“He could well break Jashari’s Belgian transfer record this summer. The real top English clubs might still be a bit out of reach, but a mid-table team like Brighton could be the perfect next step for him.”
Contract, value and agent info
