Ferdi Kadıoğlu has no intention of leaving Brighton and Hove Albion this summer and is very happy in England.
Journalist Sercan Hamzaoğlu reports that the 26-year-old is not interested in returning to Türkiye with Fenerbahce.
A report in Türkiye today stated that the Brighton defender was on the club’s transfer shortlist for the end of the window.
That stated the Turkish side were looking to sign the defender if they beat Lyon in the Champions League, they planned to move for the Brighton full-back. Talks had, reportedly, already been held with Kadioglu and Brighton about a potential move.
Brighton exit shot down
That idea has quickly been shot down. Sercan Hamzaoğlu explains this particular transfer is not one that will happen.
“Ferdi Kadıoğlu is currently very happy in England. There is absolutely no possibility of him coming to Fenerbahçe this season,” he said.
Whether that does end the rumours from Türkiye remains to be seen. Barely a transfer window goes by in which Kadioglu is not linked with a return to his homeland.
It’s been that way since he left Fenerbahçe in 2024, despite generally impressing for Brighton in that time.
No reason for Brighton sale
Realistically, though, there is no reason for Brighton to sell this summer. Ferdi Kadioglu is one of two left-backs – alongside Maxim de Cuyper – in their current squad. Letting him go would be weakening themselves in the final two weeks of the window.
He also provides an option at right-back. And given the Seagulls are continuing with Mats Wieffer in the position, it makes sense to keep Kadioglu in the squad.
Of course, knowing Brighton and the skill in their recruitment team, they would have a replacement lined up anyway.
For now, at least, the word from Sercan Hamzaoğlu is that the deal is a non-starter and Kadioglu is happy at Brighton.
