Arsenal remain interested in a deal for Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen, but they are determined ‘not to act rashly’ to sign the striker.

Foot Mercato report that Arsenal are looking to be active in the final stages of the summer transfer window. Another forward option is on the cards, with Atlético Madrid’s Julian Álvarez at the top of the list.

However, the Argentine appears to be uninterested in a move to the Emirates. He would prefer to join Barcelona this summer. Thus, Arsenal are considering other targets.

Arsenal like Osimhen

Reports have linked them with a move for Victor Osimhen for a while. Foot Mercato report that the Gunners are keeping a close eye on his situation. But they have no intention of acting recklessly. In fact, they want to avoid reckless spending at all.

They particularly have no intention of making rash financial decisions regarding the striker’s wages. Osimhen currently earns over €20m net per year at the Turkish club.

That is a salary no European club can afford to pay. Arsenal are interested but will only hope to sign the former Lille and Napoli striker if he lowers his wage demands.

Osminhem must choose

The ball, then, is now in Osimhen’s court. Either 27-year-old decides to stay in Türkiye – where he earns a lucrative salary and is still competing in the Champions League – or he takes on a new challenge with the Premier League champions, and last season’s Champions League finalists.

If he is to do that, though, he will have to lower his wages. There is no indication of the wages Arsenal are willing to pay. But they are very unlikely to be anywhere near the €20m net that he is currently earning at Galatasaray.

At this point, that pay packet is a major obstacle. And unless there is movement on it, the Nigerian won’t be heading to the Emirates. Arsenal simply don’t want to take the financial risk.
