Crystal Palace have been in the hunt for Alieu Njie for many weeks and now have an opening for a deal.
Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered that the Eagles were competing with Salzburg for the Swede. They also made an initial offer, which was rejected by Torino, who were pushing to sell him for only over €20m.
Talk soon clamed, as Njie made a mark in the Granata’s Serie A opener against AC Milan. He came off the bench and impressed with his pace and 1v1 ability.
Now, his exit is gaining traction again and Crystal Palace are interested.
Player now wants exit
Alfredo Pedulla now reports that Fiorentina have joined the race for the talent. They want attacking incomings to replace Moise Kean and Njie is a candidate to come in.
They will make direct contact with Torino for a deal today. The player is still valued at €20m, with Crystal Palace having returned to the picture ‘in the last few hours’.
The Eagles could yet have a shot at a move too. Fiorentina have decided to not go beyond €15m in their offer. Even if there could still be room for an agreement, the player’s next destination hasn’t been decided yet.
Njie is now also pushing for an exit. He wants to leave Torino and is unlikely to be in the squad for their game against Sassuolo.
Torino want auction
While the 21-year-old did well at the weekend, he has never been a regular at Torino. He has a raw skill set but consistency is a problem for Njie. Torino know he has suitors and they now want to make the most of an auction, to raise his value.
