Wolverhampton Wanderers‘ Boubacar Traoré is keen on completing a move to Anderlecht before Tuesday’s deadline.
The Jupiler Pro League side have already made a concrete attempt to sign the defensive midfielder.
Earlier today, the British press reported Wolves rejecting Anderlehct’s opening £3.5m [€4.08m] offer.
Not giving up on Wolves man
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri now picks up on that and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share the latest.
César Peixoto’s side turning down the opening bid hasn’t put off Anderlecht, who have no intention of giving up.
The journalist states the Belgian club have returned with an improved offer of over €4m plus bonuses.
Negotiations ongoing
Wolves have to let him leave in the next few days for several reasons.
Sacha Tavolieri reports the Mali international has given the green light to join Anderlecht, which shows he wants to change clubs. This is one reason the English club have to sell him.
The Championship side are in ongoing discussions with Anderlecht to finalise Boubacar Traoré’s sale. This shows all parties are in favour of getting the deal over the line.
He initially joined Wolves on loan from FC Metz in 2022 and made his stay permanent a year later. In August 2024, he suffered a meniscus injury, keeping him out of action for 151 days.
The 25-year-old finished the 2024/25 season with only 80 minutes from three matches.
Last summer, Wolves allowed him to return to Metz on loan, and he finished with 1,522 minutes from 22 matches. Two different injuries limited his game time this year.
Traoré is in his final year of contract at Molineux, meaning Wolves have to sell him soon, to avoid losing him for free in 2027.
The fitness issues and the time left on his contract are other reasons for César Peixoto’s side to cash in from his sale.
Therefore, it’s likely Wolves will accept Anderlecht’s improved offer of over €4m.
