Wolves fans may not want to hear it, but Tolu Arokodare is having a grand old time with Ajax at the moment.

The striker joined the Dutch giants on loan in the summer. We’re sure we don’t need to tell you the circumstances of that. The details continue to be disputed between Wolves and Arokodare at this point.

Either way, he’s been enjoying himself in the Netherlands since day one. Alongside shining on the pitch – seven goals and two assists in 12 game so far – he’s been making plenty of friends off it too.

Happy to be where he is

For instance, last month Sport Witness reported how he’d arranged a big surprise from some visitors that ended up wowing everyone.

Arokodare has even been discussing how happy he is himself. Just last week he was detailing how great life was after his time at Wolves.

Now he’s back talking about Ajax again. They were one of several options for the striker this summer when it was clear that he would be leaving Molineux at some point.

The former Genk striker was always convinced about moving to Ajax. Why? Because there was more at stake than just improving his own image.

“I was very interested. I like the project and I wanted to be a part of it. To work, to build, and to bring the club back to the top,” he told Africa Foot.

“They are trying to return Ajax to its rightful place, the number one spot, and, clearly, the previous few seasons haven’t been brilliant. So, when I heard about this project, it really caught my interest.”

Eredivisie shot

He was also keen at a shot at the Eredivisie, believing it was very similar to what he’d already experienced in Belgium.

He previously managed 27 goals and 10 assists in 68 games in the Jupiler Pro League earlier in his career. And he was keen to see if that experience would translate.

“I think I was already somewhat familiar with this league, having played a few friendly matches against some of the teams here. It’s quite similar to the Belgian league,” he added.

Now the challenge lies in continuing what has been a very positive start to life at the Amsterdam ArenA. Seven goals in 12 games is certainly better than what he was offering at Wolves.
