Wolverhampton Wanderers‘ Tolu Arokodare says he’s enjoying life at Ajax, after joining them on loan with an option to buy in the summer window.
The striker’s impressive performances for KRC Genk during the 2024/25 season helped him secure a move to Molineux in summer 2025.
Arokodare failed to replicate his Genk form at Wolves, who finished bottom of the Premier League table. He managed three goals and an assist from 33 league matches, and three more from four cup appearances.
Both the Championship side and César Peixoto wanted to get rid of him in the summer window. The former had accepted Trabzonspor’s offer while he wanted to join Fiorentina. In the end, the two clubs missed out as he moved to Amsterdam.
Wolves man’s good start at Ajax
The 25-year-old has put the Wolves disappointment behind him and has starred for the Eredivisie side. He’s scored seven goals and contributed two assists from 10 matches so far.
NEC Nijmegen’s Perr Schuurs said the Wolves owned player can be a “real asset” for Ajax, after the 1-1 draw between the two clubs.
Tolu Arokodare has given an interview to Footy-Africa, where he opened up about his new life away from the Championship side. He credits the Dutch club and their supporters for helping him settle quickly in the Netherlands.
“It’s been pretty good. It’s been lovely, it’s been amazing. The Dutch people have been amazing so far. My teammates have been great. The club has been outstanding,” he said.
“I love it, love the people, love the style of football, love the fans so much. They’re very, very supportive. They show me so much love on the pitch and outside the pitch, like in my messages, in my DMs and everything I see, and I appreciate the love. So, it’s been amazing.”
Big plans since leaving Wolves
The Nigeria international is now aiming to win every competition with Ajax this season.
“We’re going to try to win everything that’s there to win, everything that we can win, every competition we’re playing in and participating in,” Tolu Arokodare explained.
The Dutch club are fifth in the league, five points behind leaders Feyenoord and have qualified for the UEFA Conference League this season.
If the frontman were to continue his impressive run, Ajax may have an easy decision to make his stay permanent.
