1. FC Köln manager René Wagner is waiting for Tottenham Hotspur‘s Mikey Moore to create an impact, after his arrival on loan from the Premier League side in the summer window.
The 19-year-old graduated from Spurs’ academy and is yet to enjoy regular minutes with their first team.
Last season, Tottenham sent the winger on loan to Rangers, where he managed seven goals and four assists from 47 matches. He has a goal and an assist from three matches for Spurs this season.
The Bundesliga side made advances in July but only signed him on August 31st. Roberto De Zerbi first wanted to sign an attacker before sanctioning his exit.
Manager’s faith in Tottenham man
Mikey Moore prefers to operate on the right wing, while René Wagner has mainly utilised him as a No.10. He’s yet to score and has one assist from 315 minutes from six matches for the German club.
Last month, Sport Witness covered a report from Germany explaining that the manager promised to use him as a No.10.
The England U20 international is yet to showcase his abilities in Germany. On Thursday, the manager talked about the Tottenham Hotspur owned player and another new signing, Reigan Heskey, and Geissblog have relayed his comments.
Heskey joined them from Manchester City and is yet to score or assist for his new club.
Tottenham attacker waiting to deliver
René Wagner has faith in Mikey Moore and Reigan Heskey to deliver at FC Köln and has sent a message to the Spurs man.
“We have players who may not have decided games yet, but they can and will in the future. We will equip them with the confidence they need. But they still need to find their feet because they come from other countries and other leagues,” he said.
“Mikey is eagerly awaiting the moment when things ‘click’. He already showed in Glasgow, but even there, it took time. If he manages it here, then he’ll also know that he can beat any opponent in a one-on-one situation. Then everything will be a bit easier, but you can’t force it.”
There’s no option for FC Köln to make his stay permanent. After his loan, the youngster will return to Tottenham Hotspur, where he has a contract until 2030.
Moore’s long-term goal is to establish himself at the north London club. A good run while on loan in Germany will certainly improve his chances.
