Club Brugge has often been a hotbed of talent in recent years. And the biggest one at the minute appears to be Joaquin Seys.
The left-back has been impressing at the Belgian club since stepping up from their NXT set up in 2024, making 108 appearances to date, with eight goals and 12 assists to his name.
He’s also a fully fledged international too, with eight appearances for Belgium after making his debut in October last year.
As is often the case, that’s led to Premier League interest. A report in August already insisted that Manchester United had shown concrete interest. A month before that, Aston Villa and Newcastle United were credited with an interest in the 21-year-old as well.
Growing reputation
This week saw him add to his growing reputation with an impressive performance in the Champions League. He bagged the second goal in Brugge’s 3-0 win over Lens in the Champions League.
That was his first goal in the competition so far, adding another checkmark to a young career that is developing rapidly.
And it is likely to fuel further interest in the coming months. After the interest in the summer, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Newcastle are likely to be credited with interest again.
Transfer question asked
Now Seys is being asked directly about it. He confirmed to VTM that ‘the interest from United’ never materialised into anything concrete.
Then he addressed the prospect of a future transfer. And unfortunately for Aston Villa, Manchester United and Newcastle United, he’s not even thinking about it.
“To be honest, I’m not really thinking about that yet,” he clarified via Voetbal Nieuws.
“This is the club I love, so it’s wonderful that I’ve already been able to play so many matches here.
“This club is close to my heart, and I would give everything for it. Right now, I’m focusing entirely on Club Brugge, and we’ll see what happens after that.”
