Fenerbahçe are planning talks with Manchester United over Marcus Rashford once the Champions League draw is completed.

A Spor report Fenerbahçe have accelerated their transfer efforts after the team secured their place in the Champions League league phase by beating Lyon in the play-off round.

The Turkish side are aiming to add star power for their Champions League campaign. And that will see them send executive Cihan Kaer to England following the Champions League draw. He was sent to ‘pursue the transfer’ of Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

Another big signing wanted

Fenerbahçe want to build a squad capable of competing in Europe’s big competition, having already ‘made waves’ with the signings of Mason Greenwood, Romelu Lukaku and Nathan Ake.

They still want another high-profile addition to that group that can ‘make headlines worldwide’. A Spor report, via correspondent Erdem Akbaş, that Cihan Kamer will travel to England following the Champions League draw in Monaco.

That takes place later today, ahead of transfer deadline day next week. The question is what type of deal they will offer Manchester United for the 28-year-old.

The forward has been reintegrated into the squad under Michael Carrick this season after returning from a loan at Barcelona.

Both parties may be open to a separation if the deal works. They were clearly hoping that Barcelona would sign the forward on a permanent basis this summer. The Catalans instead went and signed Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi.

New transfer option

That’s left Rashford and Manchester United looking for alternative transfer options. They have not been forthcoming, though.

Now Fenerbahçe could be the solution, with executive Cihan Kaer set to travel to England for talks following the Champions League draw today.

What he and the Turkish side are willing to offer remains to be seen, with Transfermarkt currently valuing Rashford at €40m.

It’s hard to see Fenerbahçe offering that figure, or anything near it, particularly after their big signings already. Instead, prepare yourself for a last-minute loan offer with an option to buy.

They may also need to convince Rashford, who has already turned down Galatasaray this summer.
