Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has turned down a potential move to Türkiye, after holding talks with İlkay Gündoğan’s uncle.
Haber Siri Kirmizi report on the situation today and the outright rejection from the Manchester United forward, despite the Turkish side’s efforts.
Manchester United exit rejected
Galatasaray are continuing their search for a new winger, with Rafa Leao at the top of the list.
As part of that search, contact was made regarding Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford. He spent last season on loan at Barcelona, and the hope had been that would be made permanent.
Instead, the Catalans have gone in a different direction. Anthony Gordon was signed earlier this summer before they also did a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi. That means Rashford is no longer a part of their transfer plans.
It now remains to be seen if he stays at Manchester United – where he is being reintegrated under Michael Carrick – or heads elsewhere before the window closes.
Türkiye not in the plans
One destination he won’t be heading to is Galatasaray, though.
“The person who spoke with Rashford on behalf of Galatasaray is İlhan Gündoğan, the uncle of İlkay Gündoğan,” explained Galatasaray reports Gala journalist Ali Naci Küçük.
“Rashford says, ‘I do not want to leave. I am not considering a transfer to Türkiye.’”
That, then, should put an end to that particular rumour early. Marcus Rashford certainly didn’t leave any room for interpretation on that front.
The question is whether he ends up elsewhere before the window closes. After a year at Barcelona, where he certainly played his part in their success, it seems he has higher ambitions than a move to the Super Lig.
With Manchester United opening their arms once again, perhaps he’s simply happy being back in Manchester once again.
It’s also worth noting there’s next to nothing between reported about Bruno Fernandes. in Türkiye. There were claims a few weeks ago, but Galatasaray soon moved on.
