Negotiations between Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain are progressing well for forward Ibrahim Mbaye.
Journalist Fabrice Hawkins reports that Aston Villa are currently in pole position for the 18-year-old. He states that Mbaye is yet to approve the potential move to Villa Park.
His information is similar to what has been reported in England on Friday afternoon. Those reports stated that an agreement was no in place for the youngster. But it seems they are less optimistic in France for the time being.
Liverpool step back
Reports have linked Ibrahim Mbaye with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain throughout the summer transfer window.
Those reports have largely linked him with a potential move to Liverpool. Indeed, Sport Witness covered a report a week ago insisting that the Reds were in active negotiations with PSG over a deal for Mbaye and Barcola.
The duo were the left out of PSG’s squad for their weekend game as those talks continued.
But while a deal is now in place for Barcola – he’s due to fly to the UK on Saturday – nothing has progressed with Mbaye. Perhaps that has now opened the door for Aston Villa.
Watkins money reinvested?
Their summer has been a major rebuild, with several key players departing despite them qualifying for the Champions League last season.
Ollie Watkins is the latest to join that list. He is now on the verge of a move to Saudi Arabia after pushing for the move over the last week. He is likely to be replaced by Nicolas Jackson.
But the funds from that deal can be spent on strengthening the right-wing position, which remains a weak spot. Unai Emery currently has Leon Bailey and youngsters Alysson and Bradley Burrowes for the position.
Now they could be set to add Ibrahim Mbaye to that list. Talks are already underway with PSG, but the youngster is yet to give his approval.
