Everton defender Adam Aznou is on the verge of joining Spanish side Málaga CF on loan for the season.
BILD journalist Nico Linner reports that a deal is now in the final stages for the 20-year-old to return to Spain for a year.
The former Bayern prospect is set for a loan move to Málaga. The newly promoted La Liga side have offered the full-back ‘significant match experience’ and the prospect of becoming a key player in their fight against relegation.
Straight loan
The journalist makes no mention of the financial details of the loan. There is no indication whether it includes an option to buy or anything of that nature. It appears to be a loan deal and nothing more.
That would tally with reports from England regarding the youngster this summer. They had stated that Adam Aznou was due for a loan deal this season to gain experience.
He joined Everton in a €9m deal from Bayern Munich last summer. But he failed to convince David Moyes, managing just four appearances totalling 295 across the campaign.
Two of those – totalling 171 minutes – came in the EFL Trophy and another came in the National League Cup.
Return to Spain
His only appearance for Everton’s first team was a 34-minute appearance in the FA Cup Third Round defeat to Sunderland. He bagged an assist in that game but was not seen again for the rest of the season bar appearances on the bench.
Now it seems he is set for a return to Spain. He knows La Liga well, having spent half a year on loan at Real Valladolid in the 2024/25 season.
He made 13 appearances for the Spanish side in the second half of the season, featuring in the starting 11 in 10 of those appearances. Now he’ll be hoping for a similar chance to prove himself at Málaga and recover from a disappointing year on Merseyside.
