Joël Ordoñez is currently in London awaiting his medical results before completing a move to Crystal Palace.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Club Brugge and Crystal Palace have now finalised a deal worth €33m – including bonuses – for the 22-year-old.

The deal between the two sides is now completed. All parties are currently awaiting the outcome of medical tests carried out on the player today. The Ecuadorian is in London waiting to complete the move.

Friday medical tests

The defender is recovering from a metatarsal fracture suffered at the beginning of last month. He has already missed four games, and 59 days, for Club Brugge.

Reports have made it clear that Crystal Palace were waiting to finalise the deal for him because of that. They’ve seeming put the youngster through his paces, including an extra test on Friday, before signing off on the deal.

Tavolieri does not indicate that there is any concerns on the fitness front. All parties are now just waiting for final approval from the medical tests conducted on Friday.

Lacroix replacement

Joël Ordoñez will arrive at Selhurst Park as a replacement for Maxence Lacroix, who left the club to join Chelsea earlier this summer.

The Frenchman has left big shoes to fill, and it remains to be if Ordoñez is capable of stepping into them, once he is fit.

A metatarsal fracture is no small injury to recover from, with an average recovery usually six to twelve weeks. Some can take three to four months for a full recovery, though.

Crystal Palace would, presumably, believe that Ordoñez will not be out for long-term or they would not be committing to such a deal with Club Brugge.

Perhaps that is why they are waiting for the final approval from the medical tests on Friday before finalising the 22-year-old’s arrival at Selhurst Park.

UPDATE: Het Nieuwsblad report the transfer is off again. That final medical report must have been a negative one.
