Wolverhampton Wanderers‘ Raúl Jiménez will be out of action for a while after suffering a setback on Wednesday.
In the summer, the Mexico international returned to Molineux as a free agent, to start his second spell.
The striker spent five years at Wolves and left them for Fulham in 2023. He had a three-year spell with the London club and returned to his former club in June.
Jiménez enjoyed a good start to this season, managing three goals and an assist from six league matches for Wolves.
Two days ago, the 35-year-old started in his side’s EFL Cup defeat to Everton. He had to leave the pitch after 38 minutes because of an injury.
Wolves man’s injury blow for Mexico
César Peixoto has confirmed the frontman will be out of action for a few weeks.
“He was only going to play 45 minutes, just like Krejci. Raúl needed to play because he hadn’t played the full 90 minutes in the previous match,” he said.
“It’s not a muscle injury, but a knee injury, and we won’t be able to count on him for a few weeks. It’s definitely bad news for us.”

Update on Wolves player’s setback
The severity of the former Benfica man’s injury is ‘much less than initially feared’ and this will please both him and the Championship side.
César Peixoto confirmed he will be out for a few weeks, without providing further updates.

The English club will face West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, and he’ll miss this clash. The player will take advantage of the international break to focus on regaining full fitness to return to the pitch as soon as possible.
