Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have made inquiries regarding Paris FC defender Moustapha Mbow as they seek defensive reinforcements before deadline day.

L’Equipe report that Pierre Sage and co have turned their attention to France in their hopes adding to Sage’s defensive options.

The newspaper states that they recently inquired about Mbow, a player who has ‘never hidden his interest’ in a move to the Premier League.

Defender required

Crystal Palace have endured a difficult start to the season, with a 2-0 loss to Everton followed by a 4-1 loss to Manchester City on Friday evening.

Their defence has been hit particularly hard in the early weeks, with Maxence Lacroix departing for Chelsea and Chadi Riad suffering an injury at Everton.

They have already signed Axel Disasi and Takehiro Tomiyasu to bolster their numbers. A move for Club Brugge’s Joel Ordóñez had been agreed before it was cancelled on Friday following a failed medical.

Reports in France then stated that they had turned their attention to Udinese’s Oumar Solet. Now L’Equipe add Moustapha Mbow to the list of options. They report that inquiries have been made about the 26-year-old Paris FC defender.

Mbow open to England

The player has never hidden his interest in a move to England. But Paris FC have consistently maintained that he is not for sale. Sporting director Marco Neppe reiterated that stance to L’Equipe just a few days ago also.

In fact, negotiations over a new contract have been underway in recent weeks. It now remains to be seen if Crystal Palace’s interest changes the situation.

The newspaper does state that Mbow is expected to be left out of the starting XI on Sunday. Paris FC take on Nice. That could be due to Crystal Palace’s inquiries.

The Eagles are circling various centre-back names and Mbow is one of them on their radar at this point in the window.
