Crystal Palace have turned their attention to Udinese defender Oumar Solet after Joel Ordóñez’s move from Club Brugge collapsed.

Cystal Palace were closing in on a deal for Club Brugge’s Joel Ordóñez this weekend after sealing a deal with the Belgium side.

Sport Witness covered a report today stating that the defender was in London awaiting medical tests to finalise his move.

Reports from Belgium explained that Ordóñez had undergone new medical tests on Friday to determine his fitness. He is currently recovering from a metatarsal fracture suffered at the beginning of last month.

There were no indications at the time that the medical tests would cause an issue. Crystal Palace were simply waiting for the to return before signing off on the deal.

Instead, an update earlier this afternoon explained that Joel Ordóñez had actually failed those new tests. As a result, the deal to take him to Selhurst Park was cancelled and he’ll be remaining at Brugge for the time being.

Crystal Palace move on quickly

Now it appears that Crystal Palace have turned their attention elsewhere, and quickly. Accomando reports that Udinese’s Oumar Solet is in their sights.

He states that they are ready with a €25m offer for the defender. That is around the same figure they were due to pay for Ordóñez.

Whether that is enough to convince the Italian side, remains to be seen. Solet is currently in the final year of his deal, although they do have an option to extend that by another year.

Still, it would make sense to sell at this point rather than delaying the issue by another year and it seems Crystal Palace are ready to offer them the chance to do so.
