Newcastle United and Aston Villa have keen interest in signing Como’s Martin Baturina this summer.
The Croatia international joined the Serie A side from Dinamo Zagreb in July 2025 and impressed in his debut season. He scored eight goals and contributed four assists from 32 matches.
His displays haven’t gone unnoticed as Newcastle United and Aston Villa now want to sign him.
Newcastle and Aston Villa in for disappointment

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report on the Premier League duo.
The 23-year-old can also operate as a left winger and in other attacking positions. The journalist says he is ‘highly sought-after in the market, with offers from Newcastle United and Aston Villa’.
Both Matthias Jaissle’s side and the Europa League winners are ready to offer up to €70m for the Croatia international. With a contract expiring in 2030, Transfermarkt value him at €45m.
The Magpies and Unai Emery’s side are in for a disappointment as Como consider him ‘untouchable’. Therefore, the Italian club have no intention of sanctioning a sale late in the window.
PL duo can maintain hope

On July 6th, Sport Witness covered a report from Croatia explaining that Como rejected a €55m bid from an unnamed English club. The former have set an €80m price to sell him in this window.
Late that month, Como president Mirwan Suwarso talked about letting Martin Baturina leave if there’s a convincing offer.
At that time, he said: “If there’s an offer, we’ll listen. If we like it, we’ll accept, but we’re not afraid to refuse. Last summer, we rejected a €60m offer for Assane Diao. I can’t say from whom. And in the winter, another €40m, for Jayden Addai.”
Taking the report and the president’s comments into account, Newcastle United and Aston Villa can still sign Baturina by offering €80m to Como. It’s unclear whether the English clubs are willing to match this price.
